68. Katie Fitzpatrick

Nurses have been described as angels in comfortable shoes.

That describes my great-niece Katherine “Katie” Fitzpatrick – to the tips of her toes.  Today is her birthday and I hope she spends at least part of it doing one of the things she does best — dancing.

When she was little, Katie, her sisters Abby and Elizabeth, and her cousins Meghan, Corey and Heather used to burst into dance every time any music erupted within their hearing.  Most kids their ages were fixated on watching the boob tube but not them.  Just a chord or two or a drum riff was enough to set them off and the next thing you knew the place was rocking.  Even their parents were infected with the bug and there was always a whole lotta shakin’ goin’ on.

If anybody learned to wear comfortable shoes, it was that crowd.  Which worked out nicely for Katie.  When she grew up to become a nurse, she needed her two good feet to be comfortable, even when they weren’t tapping out a disco beat.

Katie’s a Registered Nurse now, and determined to become a nurse practitioner. I guess that means she’s not going to pursue “Dancing With The Stars”, but let’s hope that at least she won’t forget how to hip-hop.

She has two little people of her own now – Alexis and Aiden.  Chances are, they’re getting plenty of training twisting and twirling on the dance floor.

Like this . . .

Have a happy birthday, Katie.  Keep dancing!

One day a jet flew over and left the white line in the sky. Katie looked up and said, “Look Daddy somebody cracked the sky”

Mark just called and we were talking about how the videos that you took bring back old memories. I get them out and play them sometimes just to remember.

Your have added so much to our lives. And here when they brought you home from the hospital, I slapped your face, and told them to take you back where you came from.

    My Mistake !!!
